Site Service Engineer / Electrician

About this role 

The Site Service Engineer at Capital plays a key role in delivering high-quality power distribution solutions to our clients across Ireland and Europe. Reporting to the Head of Projects, this role bridges our in-house engineering team and on-site operations—ensuring the installation and maintenance of LV switchgear systems meet our exacting standards. You’ll work both at our Rathcoole facility and directly with customers, supporting projects from start-up to completion. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified electrician or electrical engineer to take on a varied, hands-on role within a dynamic and growing company.

Key responsibilities 
Electrical Installation and Support:
  • Make up and install cable containment in line with layout drawings and dimensions.
  • Install and terminate cable correctly, adhering to site standards.
  • Install, connect, test, commission and service LV Switchgear.
  • Perform thermal imaging surveys using a Fluke thermal imaging camera.
  • Carry out LV Switchgear modifications independently or as part of a team.
  • Conduct site inductions and task briefings as needed.
  • Liaise closely with customers during the completion of works.
  • Diagnose and resolve problems efficiently
  • Respond professionally to all assigned service calls.
  • Maintain a tidy and clutter-free workplace, free from excess materials.

 

Administration and Documentation:
  • Complete necessary certificates for client handover, witness testing and associated documentation.
  • Monitor work progress and provide project status reports.
  • Maintain accurate records and certificates for handover to clients.
  • Provide witness testing documentation and reports as required.
  • Issue after-service reports to Capital and clients.
  • Report back on potential improvements observed on site.
  • Accurately submit daily timesheets, expenses and travel requests in line with standard process.
  • Keep company vehicles clean and well-maintained.

 

Client Relationships:
  • Establish, promote and maintain excellent and professional customer relationships within the field.

 

Flexibility and Adaptability:
  • Be flexible within the role and accept that from time to time, you may be required to carry out other roles within the business to assist in covering resourcing gaps.
  • Flexibility is occasionally required regarding start and finish times or weekend work.

 

General:
  • Follow strict Health & Safety and environmental guidelines at all times, and lead by example to create a safe and tidy workplace.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends, health & safety requirements and the International (IEC), British (BS), European (EN) and other standards which apply to our business.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and innovative working environment.
  • Deliver duties in a professional, with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Complete all required training for your role.
Requirements
  • Qualified Electrician (recognised in Ireland) or a Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing is essential, preferably in the LV Switchgear industry.
  • Full driving licence (which is valid in Ireland and EU).
  • Eligible to work in the EU (not just Ireland), and proficient in English (verbal and written).
  • Safe Pass & Manual Handling certifications.
  • Comfortable in using computers and software packages to document work tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work accurately to deadlines in busy environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong initiative and organisational skills, with the ability to work within a team.
  • Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement focus.

  • Available to work outside normal hours and travel internationally at short notice.
