Project Manager

About this role 

The role of project manager is an excellent opportunity for a qualified professional pertaining to key project management functions within a fast-paced, growing manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be required to have proven experience in managing large, complex projects, preferably within a manufacturing environment. The role will entail the supervision and liaising with other project managers and engineering teams. Attributes, such as team leadership and commercial awareness are key in this role.

Key responsibilities 
  • Identifying customer requirements, liaising with key customers, sub-contractors and suppliers, including scheduling site surveys and meetings
  • Commercial control of key projects, including budgets and variations
  • Ensuring customer project kick-off is completed within the agreed standard timeframe from sales handover to initiation
  • Ensuring the project is completed within the triple time, quality and budget constraints
  • Undertake ongoing commercial reviews on each project and ensure commercials and margins are tracked and managed
  • Ensure engineering completes design reviews for all designs per project and that the output and approval are saved within the project folders
  • Lead projects from requirements definition through deployment, identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimations, and implementation plans, including risk mitigation
  • Analyse project status and, when necessary, revise the scope, schedule, or budget to ensure that project requirements can be met
  • Provide status reports and RAID logs to customers every week for the duration of the project and hold weekly project update meetings with the customer
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant client stakeholders, providing frequent contact on project status and changes
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team or with external partners, escalating problems as needed
  • Track and control project scope and milestones using a detailed project Gantt chart to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery of high-quality products and services
  • Implement communications and governance controls on each project
  • Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels and escalate issues, as necessary, according to project plan.
  • Conduct post-project reviews to document lessons learned and identify opportunities for process improvement
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and best practices in project management
  • Be flexible within the role and accept that from time to time, you may be required to carry out other functions within the business to assist in covering resourcing gaps
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a related position / comparable role involving exposure to Switchgear design engineering and managing multiple ongoing projects
  • Minimum 3 years Project Management experience (manufacturing experience preferable)
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Electrical) an advantage
  • Relevant project management qualification (PMP, Prince2) an advantage
  • Project management skills / Budget / Costings
  • Aptitude for problem-solving
  • An adaptability to respond to a fast-moving business environment
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work within a team
  • Adaptable, motivated and uses own initiative
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office packages
