Production Manager

About this role 

The role of Production Manager offers an excellent opportunity for a strong leader to further their career in the Switchgear Industry. Reporting to Chief Finance & Operations Officer, you will act as an integral part of the organisation and be responsible for the day-to-day management of production within the facility, ensuring that quality products are made to specifications and on time.

Key responsibilities 
  • Leading a team of Production Supervisors, Team Leaders and Production Operators to deliver best-in-class products.
  • Responsible for manufacturing products at optimum cost, quality, customer satisfaction and delivery in accordance with defined schedule.
  • Establish standards of performance and monitor the same against pre-determined standards.
  • Production planning and execution, including optimum product line layout and staffing levels for proper operation.
  • Provide positive leadership by interpreting company policy and management directives for Production Personnel.
  • Provide accurate and timely information to management as directed by ongoing business needs.
  • Establish and maintain a high level of employee morale.
  • Maintain sound disciplinary procedures in line with Company requirements.
  • Supervise compliance with Health and Safety, Environmental and Security Procedures by maintaining ongoing compliance with the company-certified IMS system.
  • Continuous improvement in best practice manufacturing.
  • Resource Planning.
  • Ensure Production Operatives are trained to optimum standards.
  • Perform regular appraisals of all Production employees in compliance with company procedure and manage underperformers.
  • Training of Production Team Leaders in the team and continuous improvement skills.
  • Quality: Assure ongoing compliance with quality and industry regulatory requirements.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with Health & Safety Legislation and Regulations.
  • Environmental: Manage the company to minimise environmental impacts.
Requirements
  • Qualification in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing or related field or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar industry.
  • Knowledge and experience to promote a safe working environment and ensure compliance with appropriate regulatory standards.
  • Excellent organisational skills, time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Leads by example, with a can-do approach, passion, energy, and a strong work ethic.
  • Understands the importance of managing and developing people whilst creating a climate where people can do their best.
  • An understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts.
  • Knowledge of SAP Business ONE or equivalent ERP system.
